NHS Sound System Improvements To Begin

The long awaited renovations to the Newtown High School Auditorium acoustic and sound system will begin soon. The initial testing and design by the Walter-Storyk Design Group has been completed.

There will be two phases necessary to complete the project. First, the acoustic treatments will be applied to walls of the auditorium as well as the rigging and sound panels on the stage and its ceiling. The second phase will allow for a major overhaul of the electronic components, wiring, and computerization of this hall.

The acoustic treatment portion will begin as soon as the panels have been fabricated and will be installed by December 14, in time for the Christmas concert series. The entire sound project will be completed by July 2002.

The funds for this project are being provided by a collaborative effort of private, corporate, business, granting, and Board of Education sources.
