William H. Renz
William H. Renz, 94, a Monroe resident for 60 years, died October 14 in Connecticut Hospice Branford.
Mr Renz graduated from the Butler Business School, worked as general foreman for E.E. Seeley Company for 35 years, office manager for Renz Hauling Company for eight years, and was a carpenter by trade. He was the past president of the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department, president of the Retired Menâs Club of the Monroe Congregational Church (1987-present), president of the Monroe Senior Citizens, past chairman of the Board of Monroe Tax Assessors Office, past secretary and treasurer of the Masonic Order of Demolay, as well as a 70-year member of the Ashlar Aspetuck Lodge #142, and past secretary of the Germania Schwaben Hall. In his younger years he was a champion baseball player for the Hillside Junior League and soccer player for the Bridgeport Foresters and Bridgeport Germans.
He was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Grace Renz.
Survivors include five children, William F. Renz of Trumbull, Grayce B. Anderson of Charlestown, R.I., Ret Col Robert B. Renz and his wife, Susan, of Spokane, Wash., Franklin W. Renz and his wife, Mary, of Monroe, and Ronald R. Renz and his wife, Donna of Monroe; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen W. Renz of Monroe; two sisters, Mildred Renz and Lillian Schlump, both of Bridgeport; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial wake was scheduled Thursday, October 18, from 4 to 8 pm in the Lesko-Miner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street (Route 26), Monroe. A memorial service will be held today, Friday, at 11 am in the Monroe Congregational Church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
