Childrenâs Programs
*Author Visit â Suzanne Collins: Fans of the Gregor the Overlander series should mark their calendars now!
Author Suzanne Collins will be at C.H. Booth Library on Sunday, October 21, from 3 to 4:30 pm. Ms Collins will be talking about the first four books in her popular series, answer questions, and maybe even hint at what might take place in the next installment of the series.
An author signing session will follow. Books will be available for purchase on the day of the program.
*Halloween Craft: Children ages 6 and up are invited to make a Halloween craft with Marie Walker on Saturday, October 23, from 2 to 3 pm, in the story hour room.
A $3 materials fee will be due at registration. Sign up in the childrenâs department.
*Halloween Fun for Kids: Save the date and plan to pop in.
Children ages 3-7 are invited to drop in at the library on Tuesday, October 31, before going trick-or-treating.
*Nutmeg Book Discussion: Becoming Naomi Leon by Pam Munoz Ryan will be discussed on Wednesday, November 1, from 4 to 5 pm.
Students in grades 4-6 are invited to join this informal book discussion.
Programs For Young Adults
*Nightmares Rising: Master storyteller Carol Birch will return to tell spooky Halloween tales on Monday, October 23, from 4 to 5 pm, for readers in grades 6 and up.
All attending will be entered in the door prize drawing for a jar of Halloween candy!

*âCreative Writing: Poetryâ begins October 23, for sixth through eighth graders who love to write and would like to be part of a writing group to share their work.
We have just ONE SPACE LEFT for this group.
Liz Arneth, assisted by Tom McMorran, will lead the group for five sessions on Monday evenings, meeting from 6 to 8 pm, October 23 until November 20. The group is limited to ten students, with preference given to Newtown residents.

*YA Book Talk: Our next Letâs Talk About will be Say Yes by Audrey Couloumbis on Wednesday, November 8, from 4 to 5 pm.
In her efforts to hang on following the disappearance of her stepmother, Casey resorts to anything including robbery.
This program is for readers in grades 5 and up. Sign up at the Main Floor Circulation Desk, or call ahead, or just drop in.
Adult Programs
*Audubon Society Program: The Audubon Society will meet on Thursday, October 26, at 7:30 pm.
Walt Landgraf will give a presentation and slideshow on âPreparing for Winter,â and all are welcome.
*Independent Film Series: Films are screened in the meeting room at 7:30 pm.
Next in the series is Campfire, on Tuesday, November 14.
*Celebrating Book Groups: The C.H. Booth Library is planning a party and reception celebrating all of the book groups in town. Please call the library with the name of your group and a contact person so we can get your input and include your book group in the fun.
*Book Nook: Get in the spirit of the season with selected Halloween titles at great prices in the Friends of the Libraryâs Book Nook located next to the main circulation desk on the second floor.
