Glebe House To Host All Hollow Eve Events

WOODBURY — Ghosts, goblins, and all children and adults are invited to join staff members at The Glebe House Museum on Saturday, October 28, between the witching hours of 5 and 8:30 pm.

The museum will be decorated for the evening with luminaries and jack-o’lanterns.

Tours will begin at the Glebe House where guides dressed in period costume will lead visitors to the Old Burying Ground across the street. There will be stories about the famous and not so famous occupants therein, stories of historical figures who lived in Woodbury over 200 years ago, and the myths and legends surrounding them.

The tour will continue in the Jabez Bacon summer kitchen. Meet storyteller Joyce Marie Rayno, who will portray Moll Cramer for the evening.

Legend has it she was the witch of Woodbury and could change the weather and sour milk.

The Hurd House Museum will be open for the evening with open hearth cooking in the 17th Century kitchen.

A short walk down Hollow Road will bring guests back to Glebe House Museum for fall refreshments of cider, hot chocolate, meatless chili, soup and hot dogs available for purchase. Dessert treats will also be available.

The Glebe House will host a haunting candlelight tour and Madam Suzolo will be giving Tarot Card readings in the Glebe House cottage.

To get in the “spirit” of the season, the Glebe House is holding a Scarecrow Contest. Children and

Adults of all ages are invited to enter a scarecrow to be judged in the following categories: youth, adult, group, family and business. Sign up is $10 which includes an armature for the scarecrow. All entries must be delivered to the Glebe House by October 23 to be judged October 28.  Prizes will be awarded that evening.

Scarecrows will be on display outdoors and should be outdoor hardy. Registration forms may be picked up at the museum.

All Hollow’s Eve is to be held raan or shine with check-in starting at Glebe House Museum, 49 Hollow Road. Admission is $9 or $18 for a family ticket purchased at the door, or $7 and $15 purchased in advance at the museum.  Parking will be in Hollow Park.
