Kuchtaâs Combat Diorama At Mark Twain Library
REDDING â The Mark Twain Library is hosting a diorama exhibit of three-dimensional combat art through October 30. The diorama features intricately detailed figures by the celebrated combat artist Richard Dana Kuchta.
Mr Kuchta has had numerous display shows including shows with Federal Hall on Wall Street, The Smithsonian Institution National Traveling Exhibit and New York Vietnam Veterans Group at Southern Connecticut State University. He was the principal World War II diorama artist with the Military Museum of Southern New England in Danbury for 15 years.
âI have concentrated my efforts over the last 30 years on anti-war pieces,â said Mr Kuchta. âThis work mainly deals with scenes from World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Aside from these vignettes, my favorite and most passionate subject far and away is World War II German armor, from Kursk July 1943 to the fall of the Reich in 1945.â
The exhibit is on display during library hours, Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 7 pm, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from 1 to 5pm.
The library is at the corner of Route 53 and Diamond Hill Road in Redding. For more information, contact The Mark Twain Public Library at 203-938-2545 or AskSam@MarkTwainLibrary.org.
