Womanâs Club Is Hoping To Increase Voter Participation
The Newtown Womanâs Club, spearheaded by its Public Affairs Committee, is launching a campaign to âGet The Vote Out!â this November. Part of the mission of the Womanâs Club Public Affairs Committee is to encourage responsible citizenship and to educate members and the public on national issues.
âOur exciting new campaign for this season,â announced Mae Schmidle, public affairs chairman, âis to encourage responsible citizenship and encourage all Newtown voters to come out and vote on November 7.â
A logo has been designed for this yearâs promotion, showing the Newtown rooster crowing about getting citizens to vote on November 7. The rooster holds an antique scroll announcing, âVote November 7!â
The rooster is centered on a bright yellow fluorescent three-inch sticker that will be distributed by members of Newtown Womanâs Club.
âWe plan to sticker the whole town,â said club President Peg Forbell, âso no one can forget to vote November 7.â
In addition to distributing the yellow stickers through various clubs and organizations through town, the committee also plans to distribute stickers through the shopping centers and stores on Saturday, November 4. The Committee includes Sally OâNeill, Betty Warner, Marion Thompson, Milda Kolesar and Chairman Mae Schmidle.
Anyone who needs extra stickers should contact any members of the committee: Sally OâNeill, Betty Warner, Marion Thompson, Milda Kolesar or Mrs Schmidle.
