To the Editor:

I have known Dan Shea for 35 years. I first met Dan when we coached baseball and basketball together in Newtown’s youth leagues. I also know Dan from his involvement with the Saint Rose choir where is he a faithful member. He has always impressed me with his abilities around children, which, of course, comes from his 35 years of teaching as well as his outgoing personality.

I feel Dan would be an excellent candidate for the Newtown BOE. He has many innovative ideas regarding Newtown’s school district and an excellent body of knowledge regarding educational developments locally, nationally, and internationally. Dan would undoubtedly add a great deal to the board and do so with a thoughtful sensitivity reflective of his 43 years as a Newtown resident.
