Letter of Endorsement
To the Editor:
I am writing to support Tony Hwang for State Senate.
A couple years ago, my sister and I, along with our children, enjoyed a tour of our state’s capital building in Hartford. This trip had personal meaning as my father and our children’s grandfather, Judge Robert Testo, was Speaker of the House of Representatives for Connecticut from 1967 to 1969.
My sister and I were too young to appreciate what my father did as Speaker, so being able to take our children to see their grandfather's picture in the halls of the capital building and standing at the podium where my father stood so many years before was a very proud moment.
This trip was generously arranged by our state representative, Tony Hwang. To me, the invitation showcases Tony's desire to go the “extra mile” of what may be expected by an elected official, and it’s what sets Tony apart from other politicians.
It didn’t matter that Tony and my father were from different political parties. It was important to Tony that we were able to show our children the good their grandfather did as Speaker and, in the process, impress upon them a future desire to do the same thing one day. His generosity will not be forgotten and I know it has inspired my family to become more involved in community service.
I enthusiastically support Tony Hwang’s run for State Senate. We’re lucky to have him.
