Police Reports, October 9-18, 2015
DUI Incident
Police report they observed motorist Andrew Bolmer, 27, of 31 Swamp Road driving a vehicle erratically in Dodgingtown at about 10:40 pm on October 17, after which they stopped him on Hattertown Road, near Dodgingtown Road, to investigate.
Police said they charged Bolmer with driving under the influence. Bolmer posted $500 bail and is scheduled for a November 3 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court, police said.
Drug Charges
State police report they responded to calls informing them that a green Jeep SUV was being driven erratically, after which they found the vehicle traveling on westbound Interstate 84 in the area of Exit 9 at about 7:40 pm on October 16.
State police said they charged motorist Sean Gannon, 25, of North Salem, N.Y., with failure to drive in the proper lane and with possession of narcotics. State police said they charged passenger Laura Lopiano, 30, of North Salem with possession of narcotics.
Each person was released on $2,000 bail for October 27 court appearances, state police said.
Four Offenses
Police said they stopped motorist Leslie Caplan, 46, of 35 West Street near Topside Lane to investigate about 5:30 pm on October 15 and then charged her with driving while under suspension.
A records check indicated that there also were some warrants pending against Caplan, according to police. Police then charged her with second-degree failure to appear in court and with two counts of failure to respond to an infraction.
After processing, police released Caplan on combined $1,014 bail for an October 29 appearance in Danbury Superior Court and for a November 5 appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court.
DUI Arrest
Police report they spotted motorist Carl Gambardella, 30, of Wolcott driving a Jeep Cherokee SUV on Church Hill Road about 2:13 am on October 10 without its headlamps illuminated, so they stopped him near 3 Glen Road to investigate.
Police said they charged Gambardella with driving under the influence and with driving without headlamps illuminated.
After processing the arrest, police released Gambardella on a written promise to appear in court on October 27.
Four Vehicles
A four-vehicle collision occurred on northbound Main Street near the Newtown Savings Bank about 7 am on October 14.
Police said that motorist Andrew Charney, 65, of Monroe, who was driving a 2002 Toyota Highlander SUV, stopped for traffic conditions, after which motorist Mari Wassman-McIlrath, 32, of Milford, who was driving a 2005 Honda Civic, stopped behind the Toyota.
Motorist Srinivas Junimeni, 24, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 1998 Buick Park Avenue sedan, then stopped behind the Honda, police said.
Motorist Ashley Gomes, 28, of Stratford, who was driving a 2009 Toyota Camry sedan, then struck the rear end of the Buick, resulting in the Buick hitting the rear end of the Honda, after which the Honda struck the rear end of the Toyota Highlander, police report.
Gomes was treated for injuries at the scene, police said. Gomes received an infraction for following too closely, according to police.
Three Charges
Police report they received a complaint concerning a domestic dispute having occurred at a Toddy Hill Road residence about 6 am on October 17, after which they responded and then encountered the person whom they were seeking driving a vehicle on Toddy Hill Road, near Berkshire Road.
After investigating, police said they charged Theresa Donovan, 26, of Ridgefield with first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, and third-degree criminal mischief.
Donovan did not plead to the charges in court on October 19. Donovan, who is free on bail, is scheduled to return to court on November 24.
Warrant Arrest
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Sean Miers, 36, of 7 Dayton Street turned himself over to police at the police station on the afternoon of October 16 and was charged with violation of probation, according to police.
Police allege that on July 4, Miers violated the terms of his probation in connection with an incident that had occurred on January 30, 2014.
Police released Miers on $10,000 bail for an October 29 court appearance.
Church Hill Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident on Church Hill Road about 200 feet east of its intersection with Wendover Road about 4:30 pm on October 16.
Motorist Bethany Martin, 34, of 79 Riverside Road, who was driving a 2015 Ford F-250 pickup truck eastward on Church Hill Road, stopped and was then struck from behind by a 1999 Subaru Forester driven by motorist Sirlene Soares-Lucio, 38, of Naugatuck.
There were no injuries. Soares-Lucio received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.
Nissan Vs Nissan
A two-vehicle collision occurred on Church Hill Road near the driveway entrance to the Blue Colony Diner about 6 pm on October 9.
Police report that motorist Henry Downs, 63, of Columbus, Ohio, who was driving a 2010 Nissan Versa westward on Church Hill Road, attempted to make a left turn to enter the diner’s driveway, but then collided with eastbound motorist Nicole Benzinger, 25, of Woodbury, who was driving a 2011 Nissan Altima.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Downs for failure to grant the right of way.
Toyota Vs Toyota
Police report an accident at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Berkshire Road about 1 pm on October 12.
The collision involved motorist Suelene Ribeiro, 55, of Danbury, who was driving a 2010 Toyota RAV-4 SUV, and motorist George Ferris, 66, of Newtown, who was driving a 2003 Toyota Prius, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police said that Ribeiro received an infraction for driving without a license and for making a restricted turn.
Tractor-Trailer
Police report that trucker Arthur Ingram, 48, of Bethel, who was driving a 1997 Mack tractor-trailer truck, parked the vehicle on South Main Street, near its intersection with Mile Hill Road, at about 3 am on October 13.
Ingram then attempted to repair an air-brake line extending from the truck’s cab to its trailer, but when that line was reconnected, the vehicle’s brakes released, resulting in the vehicle rolling forward and hitting some guardcables, according to police.
Ingram, who was on the truck’s trailer when the brakes released, was not injured, police said. Police took no enforcement.
Berkshire-Wasserman Accident
Police report a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Berkshire Road and Wasserman Way about 7:22 pm on October 17.
The accident involved a 2008 Volkswagen EOS auto driven by Pauline Oliva, 65, of 19 Lyrical Lane, and a pickup truck driven by Gary Czarnecke, 29, of Oxford, police said. The truck was hauling a trailer.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Oliva an infraction for making an improper turn.
