A Family-Oriented Fundraiser
A Family-Oriented Fundraiser
To the Editor:
On behalf of the board of directors and staff of Merryhill Child Care Center, please accept our sincerest appreciation for the support from the Newtown community for our Touch a Truck and Fall Hay Ride event that was offered last Saturday, October 13.
The weather was perfect for this family-oriented fundraiser. Our parents provided mountains of baked goods, there was large supply of pumpkins for sale from our neighboring farmer, and the cooking of hamburgers and hot dogs added lunch opportunities. Everyone was excited that we could offer children from the area and their families a great activity while raising funds toward the purchase of our facility.
Unfortunately, we had to abruptly abort the event due to a scare of questionable material found on either side of our premises. As many have learned, the event closed to accommodate the testing of the substance and avoid possibilities of harm for our children and customers.
We are truly grateful to all who supported us on Sunday at Stop & Shop where we took our baked goods for sale. Many from the community were concerned for Merryhill and generously bought food to help our efforts.
Touch a Truck will return as we have received numerous comments that this was a wonderful event to provide for Newtown.
Once again, thank all of you who came last week and/or supported us at Stop & Shop. Do plan to join us when we reschedule as well as for other events we are offering to raise additional funds for purchasing our Center!
