Alzheimer’s Caregiver Course Offered

A five-part training program for Alzheimer’s caregivers will take place starting on Monday, November 5, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, at the Lockwood Lodge, Ashlar of Newtown, 139 Toddy Hill Road in Sandy Hook. It will continue every Monday in November – November 12, 19, and 26 – and December 3.

The course is designed to enhance both the knowledge and the skills of family members, friends, and professional caregivers. Course topics include communication techniques, managing behavioral challenges, legal issues and dementia, available treatments and much more. Experts in the field of dementia care such as registered nurses, doctors, elder care attorneys, social workers, physical, occupational and speech therapists will present the course.

The course is free and open to the public because of the support of the Ruth D. Brown Foundation.
