To The Editor:

I am writing to support Jim Gaston for re-election to the Newtown Board of Finance. Jim has served our town very well in many capacities and his experience is a critical need for our community. Jim has previously held leadership roles on the Board of Finance (Chair/Vice Chair) as well as served on the Board of Selectmen. Additionally, for 30+ years, he has represented our community on the Board of Burgesses or as Borough Warden. Jim’s career and educational background are also a plus as a private practice trial lawyer with a Double Major degree in Finance & Economics.

Personally, I served on the Board of Finance from 2015-2017 alongside Mr Gaston. I found him to be a reliable mentor for several newly elected officials, including Democrats and Republicans alike. Jim is a fiscal leader rooted in facts first, thorough research, and strategic thinking. He understands Newtown’s financial processes and the importance of our Annual Budget and Capital Improvement Plan. I have personally learned a lot about our local government from Jim and I trust he will continue to support appropriate school funding, town infrastructure necessities, and smart development only.

On November 4, get out and vote for people, not party! I encourage everyone to vote for Jim Gaston as he is an official who brings experience, knowledge and care all together. I am advocating for Jim because I know that he holds Newtown’s best interests at heart.
