To The Editor:

The Town Clerk’s Office should be a non-partisan public office, focused on service — not politics. In fact, I believe this position should be appointed based on qualifications, not elected through campaigns.

Since it remains an elected position, I’m supporting Renee Weimann for Town Clerk. Renee brings professionalism, fairness, and a genuine commitment to serving all residents. She will modernize outdated practices and ensure the office runs efficiently for everyone — whether you’ve lived here for decades or just moved to town.

As Newtown considers Charter revisions that may revisit how this role is structured, we have a chance now to set the right tone by electing a clerk who puts people first.

Let’s keep politics out of the Town Clerk’s Office. Vote for Renee Weimann on November 4.
