Supports John Zachos
To The Editor:
As a Newtown resident for thirty years, I’ve seen what makes this town so special, its sense of community, caring neighbors, and the dedication of those who serve. My husband, John Zachos, and I moved here in 1995, drawn by Newtown’s beauty, small-town feel, and excellent schools. It has been the place where we raised our children, met lifelong friends, and experienced the kindness that defines our town.
Over the past few years, I’ve watched John give back to that same community with integrity and compassion. He listens carefully, respects differing opinions, and always strives to find practical solutions. His work on the Legislative Council reflects those same values, especially his recent effort to make Newtown more affordable for families, seniors, and veterans.
At last week’s Council meeting, John introduced a motion to expand property tax relief for our veterans, including those who served in combat, live with disabilities, and all who have worn the uniform with honor. The motion was passed unanimously to move forward to the Ordinance Committee.
John’s leadership is guided by fairness, gratitude, and common sense. He believes in supporting those who have served our country and those who continue to serve our community every day. I am proud to support John Zachos for re-election to the Legislative Council for District 3, and I hope others will join me in doing the same.
