Letters of Endorsement

To the Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to urge the people of Newtown to vote on November 6, 2001. The office of first selectman is an important position, as decisions he or she makes directly affect every man, woman, and child in our town. Newtown needs a first selectman that we can trust, one who has the best interests of Newtown in mind.

I have known Owen Carney for the past 14 years, and in that time he has proven to me that he is that person. The leadership skills he developed during his 27 years with the Newtown Police Department, as he progressed from patrolman to captain, will serve him well as our first selectman.

Owen Carney is a devoted husband, father, and citizen of Newtown. He worked here, he lives here, he is involved with civic and fraternal organizations here. He has put his all into everything he has done, and we can expect nothing less from him as our first selectman.
