Stealing Halloween
Stealing Halloween
To the Editor:
I am writing this letter because of circumstances that have been happening in my neighborhood recently.
As you know, Halloween is next week and people have taken the time to decorate. Last week I spent an afternoon decorating my yard to surprise my two children (ages 7 and 5) so when they got off the bus they would see all of the decorations in our front yard; they were thrilled to see all the spooky stuff.
Well, the gratification for me turned to anger on Sunday morning when I looked outside and noticed two of the five tombstones that I had put up to make a graveyard had been stolen. What bothers me most is that I borrowed these tombstones from a friend to decorate my yard for my children, and now they are gone. They were also very upset.
As I was talking to some neighbors and was explaining what happened, I found out that other items from other yards had also been stolen that same evening. What is happening here? I was young once too, but I would never steal another personâs property from them. Donât these kids (whoever these thieves are) have anything better to do with their time but to steal? I would love to have these tombstones returned to me. I hope whoever did this has a conscience and will read this letter and drop them back off on my front lawn, but that is probably just wishful thinking.
