To the Editor:
As chairman of the Republican Town Committee, I am very proud to endorse an experienced, well rounded, and deserving slate of candidates for the November 6 election.
Owen Carney, first selectman candidate, brings with him many abilities, among which are: a solid reputation for competence and integrity, financial knowledge, ability to lead people, and a desire to represent us all to lead us into the future responsibility. He is a planner and a worker, with a fairness to balance ideas and problems. Owen is the type of individual we can all be proud of to have represent us. Owenâs running mate, incumbent Selectman William Brimmer, is a hard worker and has the reputation for positive leadership and the ability to work with others.
The Republican candidates for the Legislative Council all have the drive, well balanced backgrounds to complement each other, and the desire to serve. I wholeheartedly recommend and ask for your vote for the following: District 1, William (Bill) Meyer, who is currently serving, and newcomers Joseph DeCandido and Michael Iassogna. District 2, incumbent Joseph Borst, and newcomers Patrick Mullins and Andrew Buzzi. District 3, consists of all incumbents in William Rodgers, Donald Studley (formerly of District 1), and Brian White. They all demonstrate strong leadership abilities, together with an unselfish desire to work for our town. The incumbents bring valuable knowledge to our town government.
We are very fortunate to have a town clerk such as Cindy Curtis Simon. She has proven herself to be an impartial and fair individual in making the legal decisions she has to make in her position. This is no easy chore â but Cindy did it! Please show your appreciation for her abilities once again by voting her back into office.
The Republican party in Newtown is fortunate to have such an excellent slate of capable candidates for town government. This is a slate of candidates every voter hopes for â and now we in Newtown have it! Please get out to vote on November 6, and choose the Republicans as above mentioned. You wonât regret it. Thank you for your favorite consideration for our Republican candidates and your vote for them.
