I am writing to express my strong support for Attorney Peter Schwarz as a candidate for the Newtown Planning and Zoning Commission. Peter is already serving the Commission as an alternate member, where he has demonstrated deep knowledge of zoning regulations, sound judgment, and a steady commitment to our town’s long-term interests.

As an experienced attorney, Peter understands both the letter and the intent of our planning and zoning regulations. His legal background and clear thinking make him exceptionally well equipped to interpret complex applications and guide responsible growth.

Newtown needs thoughtful, informed commissioners who can balance economic development with sustainability and quality of life. Peter’s expertise ensures that projects are evaluated for their true value to the community — not just for short-term gains. He also recognizes the challenges posed by state legislation such as 8-30g, which, though well-intentioned, has at times been exploited by developers seeking profit under the banner of “affordable housing.” Peter will work to ensure that housing initiatives genuinely serve the public good while preserving neighborhood character.
