It’s Time for Bold Change in Newtown
To The Editor:
I’m Bruce Walczak and I’m running for First Selectman.
Jeff Capeci says, “changing horses at this time would not be in the interest of our community.” I strongly disagree.
Newtown is at a crossroads. We can’t afford more delay, indecision, or passive leadership. Developers and state agencies are steering our future. We must take the reins ourselves.
Traffic congestion and pedestrian hazards are daily threats. We need decisive action, not more studies. We need transparency, not backroom deals. Our residents deserve answers and accountability.
Critical decisions are on the table: the Fairfield Hills apartment proposal, the sale of 3 Main Street, the future of 6 Commerce Road, and multiple lawsuits affecting our town. These must be negotiated aggressively with Newtown’s interests front and center.
Affordability is slipping away. Young families are priced out. Seniors can’t age in place. Municipal workers struggle to live in the community they serve. We need a real plan, not empty promises.
We must attract tax-paying commercial enterprises to ease the burden on residents. Our taxes should reflect real value, services, safety, and smart investment.
I’m not a politician. I’m a proven leader with 45 years of experience running multimillion-dollar enterprises. I know how to negotiate, how to lead, and how to deliver results. It’s time to change horses before Newtown slides further into stagnation, waste, and missed opportunity.
Be bold. Vote “I’m with Bruce” on November 4.
