No More Dithering — Let’s Get To Work

To The Editor:

Some voters choose candidates based solely on party labels. Others vote for individuals — judging their experience, character, and ability to get things done. Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, or Independent, I urge you to vote for Bruce Walczak for First Selectman.

Newtown is at a crossroads. In the two years Jeff Capeci has served as First Selectman, our challenges have deepened. Affordability is slipping. Young families are priced out. Seniors can’t age in place. Municipal workers struggle to live in the town they serve. Traffic is worse. Dangerous speeding is more pervasive, turning quiet streets into high-speed corridors. Our reliance on residential property taxes keeps growing, while services shrink. And far too many residents feel unheard.

We can’t afford more delay, indecision, or passive leadership.

I’ll admit some bias. Bruce is my friend, my partner on the Economic Development Commission, and the person who encouraged me to run for Legislative Council. He also inspired me to join the Newtown Lions Club.

Bruce Walczak is the right person to meet this moment. He’s not a politician — he’s a proven leader with decades of executive experience managing budgets, building teams, negotiating deals, and delivering results. He’ll bring that same discipline, strategy, and responsiveness to town operations.

Bruce is a nonpartisan, independent thinker who’s earned the endorsement of both the Democratic and Independent parties. He listens. He acts. He delivers.

On November 4, vote for leadership that works — for all of Newtown.
