To The Editor:

As a long-time Newtown resident, I am proud to write in strong support of Jim Gaston’s re-election to the Board of Finance. I’ve known Jim for more than 14 years, and in that time, I’ve witnessed his deep and unwavering commitment to the people and future of this town.

Jim’s record of service is extraordinary. Over the past three decades, he has served Newtown as a Selectman, Warden of the Borough, and Chair and Vice Chair of the Board of Finance. He has guided our community through periods of challenge and growth and always with the goal of protecting taxpayers while investing in what makes Newtown thrive and all in all a wonderful place to live in. Under his leadership, we have seen responsible fiscal management, balanced budgets, and smart investments in major projects like the Community Center and our schools.

Jim is also a mentor and a neighbor who shows up. He has encouraged a new generation of civic leaders like myself included to step forward, listen to residents, and serve with integrity. His belief in strong schools, safe streets, support for seniors, and smart development reflects not only good policy but genuine care for the fabric of our community.

Newtown is better because of Jim’s steady leadership and thoughtful stewardship of our finances. On Tuesday, November 4, I urge voters to support Jim Gaston for re-election to the Board of Finance. Few have given as much to Newtown, and few embody the spirit of public service quite like Jim.
