Dorothy           Sheehan

Dot Sheehan, 71, a resident of South Yarmouth, Mass., and formerly of Newtown, died October 22 at Mayflower Place Center after a long illness.

Ms Sheehan was born in Stamford. She grew up in Bridgeport, graduating from Harding High School in 1947. She began her retail career at Read’s department store in downtown Bridgeport.

Upon moving to Newtown in 1959, she became active in the St Rose Parish Church and the Knights of Columbus Woman’s Group. She worked for many years at the Drug Center, formerly called Cashman’s, in Newtown Center. Before moving to Cape Cod, she resided with her late brother, Bill Sheehan, in Milford, working at Walgreen’s in Stratford.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Passmore and Michelle Foley of Harwich, Mass.; a granddaughter, Jennifer Foley of Harwich; five brothers, John Sheehan of Hamden, Gerald and Michael Sheehan of Milford, Arthur Sheehan of West Haven, and Peter Sheehan of Trumbull; and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

A memorial service is planned for Sunday, October 28 at the Elks Club, 265 Main Street, West Haven, at 6 pm.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Special Olympics or the American Red Cross.
