Hedwig E. Schnitzel

Hedwig E. “Ada” Schnitzel, 70, beloved wife of William R. Schnitzel of Trumbull Drive, Newtown, died October 24 at her home, following a brave battle with cancer.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on August 18, 1931, daughter of the late John and Helen (Patuk) Goetz. A resident of Newtown since 1967, she was employed as an administrative assistant at the Perkin-Elmer Company in Danbury for 18 years. Following her retirement from Perkin-Elmer; she was employed as a secretary at the YMCA in Brookfield.

Besides her loving husband, William, she is survived by two daughters, Linda-Ann Rose and her husband, Dennis, of Salina, Calif., and Jane Watrous and her husband, David, of New Milford; two sons, Richard Schnitzel and his wife, Michele, of Falmouth, Me., and John Schnitzel and his wife, Susan, of Lancaster, N.Y.; two sisters, Ann Benanati of Kings Park, N.Y., and Blanche Goetz of New Hyde Park, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Richard Schnitzel, Jr, Kenneth Schnitzel, and Casey and Matthew Watrous; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs Schnitzel was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a true friend, who will be sadly missed.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27 at 9 am from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and at 9:30 am at St Rose Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St Rose Cemetery.

Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, October 25, from 7 to 9 pm and on Friday from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
