Governor’s Foot Guard Band At

East Hill Woods For Veterans’ Day

SOUTHBURY — The Second Company Governor’s Foot Guard Band will perform in the auditorium at East Hill Woods, 611 East Hill Road, on Thursday, November 8, at 7:30 pm.

The group was organized in 1774 and first commanded by Benedict Arnold. Today the Connecticut’s Second Company Governor’s Foot Guard is one of the oldest continually active military units in the United States.

Now under the direction of Col Michael W. Trenalange, the band’s free concert will feature selections ranging from stirring marches and patriotic songs to traditional German style “oompah” music and Dixieland.

Jim Rousmaniere and a few veterans from the local VFW and American Legion will lead “The Pledge of Allegiance” at the beginning of the program. Additionally, members of the fife and drum division of the Foot Guard Band will also perform.

The public is invited enjoy the evening of uplifting music and to experience a unique part of American history. Call 262-6161 for directions or to reserve a seat.

 East Hill Woods organizers are encouraging concertgoers to wear some red, white and blue in honor of all veterans.
