East Hill Woods For Veteransâ Day
SOUTHBURY â The Second Company Governorâs Foot Guard Band will perform in the auditorium at East Hill Woods, 611 East Hill Road, on Thursday, November 8, at 7:30 pm.
The group was organized in 1774 and first commanded by Benedict Arnold. Today the Connecticutâs Second Company Governorâs Foot Guard is one of the oldest continually active military units in the United States.
Now under the direction of Col Michael W. Trenalange, the bandâs free concert will feature selections ranging from stirring marches and patriotic songs to traditional German style âoompahâ music and Dixieland.
Jim Rousmaniere and a few veterans from the local VFW and American Legion will lead âThe Pledge of Allegianceâ at the beginning of the program. Additionally, members of the fife and drum division of the Foot Guard Band will also perform.

 East Hill Woods organizers are encouraging concertgoers to wear some red, white and blue in honor of all veterans.
