Supporting Phil Dwyer By LeReine Frampton
To the Editor:
I know how hard it is to have a small business and make it grow. I know how hard unfunded mandates affect a budget. I have seen how the failure of the state to fully fund its special education obligation has affected our entire school budget. We also saw how funds for education were reallocated and I believe it was West Hartford that somehow ended up with a million dollars and we lost.
Phil Dwyer saw this, too. He is running for state senate and wants to help us bring the funds back that we are entitled to. Phil has served on the Board of Ed for many years both in Fairfield and in New York. He has been chairman the last four years. He supports a good education program. He believes when we create a budget backed by mandated state numbers, the state should not be able to change those numbers. Budgets are tight all over, but if we have accurate information we can plan accordingly.
Phil is a quiet work behind the scenes and get things done type of guy. I am proud that the Democrats have found such a qualified, hardworking individual to help us at the state level. Please join me in supporting Phil Dwyer on November 8.
Sincerely,
