Hazel M. Tilson, 89, of Washington Avenue, Sandy Hook, died October 22 in Danbury Hospital.
She was born in Sandy Hook on May 11, 1917, a daughter of Julius F. and Pearl J. (Hulse) Tilson. Ms Tilson was a lifelong resident of Sandy Hook and was a graduate of Newtown High School, Class of 1934.
Mrs Tilson was employed as a bookkeeper for many years by First National stores, beginning when there was a store in Sandy Hook, until her retirement from First National in Bethel.
She was a lifelong member of St Johnâs Episcopal Church in Sandy Hook where she served on the Vestry and the Evening Guild. She was a member of the Newtown Senior Center.
Her nieces and nephew, Marilyn Thompson, Joyce Girgasky, Cheryl Moulthrop, Sandra Saren, Charles Tilson, and Janet Knapp, survive Ms. Tilson. She is also survived by 12 grandnieces and nephews; and 11 great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a nephew, Gary Tilson.
Funeral Services were held October 26 in St Johnâs Episcopal Church, Sandy Hook. Interment followed in Zoar Cemetery.
