Drug Charges

Police report they approached Zachary Byman, 18, of 14 Carol Ann Drive regarding a parking issue at about 7:30 pm October 21 at a Newtown High School soccer game at Treadwell Park on Philo Curtis Road.

After investigating, police charged Byman with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia.

After processing, police released Byman on $100 bail for a November 2 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

MV Case

Police report that at about 3:13 pm October 23, they spotted motorist Anthony Ragaini, 20, of Brookfield traveling northward on South Main Street, after which he made a right turn onto Mile Hill Road without signaling to do so. Police said they stopped Ragaini on Queen Street to investigate.

Police charged Ragaini with failure to signal a turn and also with driving while under suspension.

Police released Ragaini from custody on a written promise to appear in court on November 3.

Youthful Offender

On October 20, police charged a motorist under age 18 with three motor vehicle offenses. Police charged the person with failure to display a front marker plate, driving without automotive insurance, and with driving a vehicle with a suspended registration. Because the person is under age 18 and was taken into police custody, the person’s identity is concealed by state law.

After arrest processing, the person was released on a written promise to appear November 17 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court.

Warrant

Early on the morning of October 25, Jason Mynahan, 22, of Waterbury was detained by Waterbury police after they learned that Newtown police held a warrant for his arrest.

Newtown police went to Waterbury and took custody of Mynahan, charging him with second degree failure to appear in court, failure to obey a traffic control signal, and with driving while under suspension.

The motor vehicle charges stem from an incident in Newtown earlier this year.

Police held Mynahan on $1,000 bail for a court appearance that day.
