Sidney Westerman

US Army Veteran

Sidney Westerman, 77, died October 19 at Bethel Health Care Center. He was the husband of Phyllis (Jacobson) Westerman. Mr Westerman had been a resident of Sandy Hook for the last eight years.

Mr Westerman was born September 13, 1929, in Everett, Mass., son of Hyman and Rose Westerman. He graduated from Boston University Law School and had a private law practice in Everett for 40 years, living in Lynnfield, Mass.

He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in the Korean War. He was active in the Kiwanis Club serving as its president, was active in the Salvation Army, and served on the Boards of Everett Savings Bank and the Widden Memorial Hospital in Everett.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Dr Gary Westerman of Southbury; a brother, Bernard Westerman of New Hampshire; two sisters, Ruth Falk of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Ella Zukoff of Wilmington, Del.; two grandchildren, Kenneth and Brian; and several nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be held at the United Jewish Center Cemetery, Brookfield. A memorial service was held October 22 at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson–Lovetere.
