A Trip To India Through Dance
A Trip To India Through Dance
DANBURY â Danbury Library invites the community to enjoy a special performance of Kathak, a north Indian classical dance to be performed by Rachna Agrawal, to highlight the libraryâs celebration of India during November.
As part of the libraryâs year-long âConnecting You to the Worldâ campaign, the library will bring the dramatic dance performance to the library on Saturday, November 17, from 2 to 3 pm, in the Farioly Program Room.
Kathak originated more than 2,000 years ago as a temple dance and contains intricate footwork and spins. Ms Agrawal has performed Kathak dance extensively throughout the United States and India since the 1980âs.
She has a masterâs degree in dance from the Pracheen Kala University in India and received the gold medal for Kathak from Prayak Sangeet Sainiti University. She is currently on the Connecticut Commission on the Arts Master Teaching Artist roster and teaches at the India Performing Arts Center in Hartford.
The program is free and open to adults and children of all ages. No registration is required. For information call the library at 796-8061. Danbury Library is at 170 Main Street, on the corner of West.
