To the Editor:
We write in support of Herb Rosenthal for reelection. As first selectman, Herb Rosenthal has been at the forefront of the most pressing issues of our town.
Through his leadership he has steered us through the complicated purchase process of Fairfield Hills. While maintaining poise and dignity, he has kept his eye on the prize. Through his leadership we have negotiated on equal terms with the State of Connecticut, and even reduced the purchase price to the benefit of all taxpayers. Now we are assured of more ball fields for our children, significant savings for badly needed town office space, and some light commercial development for the tax base.
Through his leadership he has helped steer through the new 5/6 school. Through his leadership and foresight he has helped preserve the Family Counseling Center, which after September 11 is now even more necessary for so many persons and families.
And, we still have good way to go. The Fairfield Hills project continues. The 5/6 school construction is underway. The needs of our growing town persist. We need a person who is both tested and experienced to lead us in these next crucial years.
Finally, when you see Herb on the street hustling to another meeting, when you see him at the Holiday Festival volunteering as a Town Crier, when you see him at the Holiday Festival Gala, or the Scholarship Ball, or at one of the other many charitable benefits, or at a charity golf outing, or at the library, or at a zoning meeting, or at a public hearing, or at a Legislative Council meeting, or at a Board of Selectman meeting, or anywhere else, say hello and âThanksâ for a job well done. He truly is one of the most approachable people we know.
Thank you.
