2007 NHS Grad Arrested On Serious Assault Charges
WATERBURY â A 2007 Newtown High School graduate, who now lives in Waterbury, was being held at the New Haven Correctional Center on $500,000 bail on Wednesday, after being arraigned in Waterbury Superior Court on Tuesday on serious assault charges.
The 21-year-old man alleged repeatedly stabbed his father and mother while they were sleeping at home on Monday morning, authorities said.
Waterbury police arrested Mark Rebb, 21, on charges of first-degree assault and second-degree assault at about 7 am Monday, following his alleged attack against Mark Rebb, 52, and Leah Rebb, 52, at their Granger Street apartment in the cityâs East End.
Waterbury police said they received a report at about 6:52 am that a man and a woman had been stabbed at the home located near Chase School.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Leah Rebb with multiple stab wounds to her hands and arms, police said.
Police later found Mark Rebb inside the home also suffering from multiple stab wounds. Mark Rebb was found positioned atop of his son, Jacob, restraining Jacob after the knife attacks, according to police.
Through their investigation, police found that Jacob had entered his parentsâ bedroom while they were sleeping and then began to repeatedly stab both parents with a knife.
Police said they took Jacob Rebb into custody at the crime scene.
Leah Rebb was treated and released from St Maryâs Hospital, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Mark Rebb was in fair condition on Wednesday afternoon, the spokeswoman said. He had been listed in critical condition following the incident.
