Feed A Stray For A Day

The Animal Center will be running a “Feed A Stray for A Day” Food Drive in response to the high demand for cat food to help feed stray and feral cats in Newtown. The drive will run from October 31 through November 6 at Super Stop & Shop at Sand Hill Plaza in Newtown.

“This year, we’ve seen an unprecedented number of cats abandoned in Newtown when their owners move or are evicted, and we’re counting on this food drive to help feed them through the fall months,” says Monica Roberto, president of The Animal Center.

Cat food for this drive may be purchased and donated at Super Stop & Shop at Sand Hill Plaza. Donation bins will be located at the store entranceways.

The Animal Center is an all volunteer, non-profit animal welfare charity. Programs include: A foster-based, no-kill rescue and adoption program for homeless and injured cats and kittens; and a Feral Cat Assistance Program that provides spay/neuter and vaccination assistance to caregivers of free-roaming, unowned cats in the community. The Animal Center is a 501 (c)3 publicly supported charity, helps approximately 250 cats a year, and relies heavily on the support of the public and generous volunteers.
