Loving Father And Grandfather
Kenneth âKenâ Peck, 83, of Newtown, died peacefully, October 22. Born in Newtown, May 1, 1927, to one of Newtownâs founding families, he was the son of John Wesley Peck and Louise Marie Dubret.
He is survived by his loving family Brett, Tracy, Howie, and Patty, and their families. He also leaves one brother, Robert. He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Wesley.
He attended Newtown schools, then went on to proudly serve his country with the US Army aboard the Tasker H. Bliss and the General H. W. Butner in World War II, from 1945 to 1947. He returned to Newtown, where he spent the remainder of his life. As a young man, he became an auxiliary trooper in Newtown. He then worked in all phases of construction and for many years operated his own drywall construction business.
He was a proud member of the VFW and of the Masons.
He loved Harley-Davidsons and rode his to Laconia, N.H., in the 1940s, and continued to ride for the next 50 years. He had a passion for life, enjoying planes, trains, road trips, art, ballroom dancing, and the sound of the Big Bands. He was a devoted weekly listener to WMNRâs Big Band Hall of Fame radio program, with Susan Kennedy.
Most of all, he loved his family, and was a proud father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
Calling hours will be Saturday, October 30, from 1 to 4 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A graveside service will immediately follow calling hours, at the Newtown Village Cemetery.
