The Sane Thing To Do
The Sane Thing To Do
To the Editor:
The great philosophical question to determine whether someone is an optimist or pessimist is to show the person a glass of water. If they describe it as half full, they are an optimist. A response of half empty is considered pessimistic. In reality there is a third practical response: eventually the glass will be emptied and someone will have to wash it.
On October 30, the Rally to Restore Sanity is being held at the Mall in Washington, D.C. Whether optimistic or pessimistic, my guess is that most of those attending (or wishing they could attend, like me) are simply looking for leadership from people who roll up their sleeves on a regular basis, stand at the sink, and wash glasses.
While I canât make it to the Rally to Restore Sanity, I do invite all my fellow dishwashers to roll up their sleeves and attend another event, being held Tuesday, November 2, at a local polling place near you. Election Day. Whether Democrat, Independent, Republican, or Unaffiliated the only way to restore sanity is to let your voice be heard.
Vote! Itâs the sane thing to do.
