To the Editor:
Itâs been easy this campaign season to get caught up in all the television ads and glossy mailers. High races like that of governor, Senate, and Congress have somewhat overshadowed our local races. Our local representatives are the people most intimately involved in our lives, and are certainly just as important a vote when we head to the polls. Here in Newtown, we have a clear choice in the race for state representative.
In Chris Lyddy, Newtown has an energetic and experienced state representative. For the past two years, Chris has fought for us in Hartford, advocating for children and seniors, fighting for education, and working to ensure that critical services are protected as we address the economic crisis. He has stood up for Newtownâs best interests at every turn.
Chris Lyddy is a Newtown native, a graduate of our public schools, and someone who has always been active in our community. Chris continues to be involved locally, and ensures that he is accessible to his constituents. He has certainly lived up to his campaign promise from two years ago that he will listen to us and lead on the issues that matter to us. He does understand the fiscal crisis that we all face here in Connecticut, and will make the tough choices to cut spending where needed, but in a thoughtful manner.
In order for someone to represent us well, they need to be listening to us. Chris has done that. It is possibly the most important trait we need in our representatives. On Tuesday, Iâll be casting a vote for Chris Lyddy. He has represented us well, and I have no doubt that he will continue to do so. Please join me in supporting his reelection.
Sincerely,
Alan Clavette
