Elizabeth Veronica Cashin
Elizabeth Veronica Cashin, 64, of Philadelphia died October 24, after a seven-month courageous battle with cancer. “Liz,” as she was affectionately known, entered this world February 22, 1950, in Hoboken, N.J.
So many have been left with a grieving heart; her mother, Eileen (Murray) Cashin of Hillsdale, N.J.; sister, Donna Rahtelli, and husband Joseph, of Sandy Hook; brothers Edward Cashin, and wife Donna, of Westwood, N.J., and Kevin Cashin, and wife Jacquelyn, of Hillsdale, N.J.; nieces, nephews, and many good, dear friends from the United States and aboard. Her father, Edward Cashin, predeceased Ms Cashin.
She spent her childhood years in Hillsdale, and was a communicant of St John the Baptist Church.
Always amazing with numbers, Ms Cashin earned her degree in math from Stonehill College in Massachusetts. She furthered her education earning her master’s in public administration from Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh. She earned the CPA designation while making her mark with the Internal Revenue Service. Ms Cashin served as a US Diplomat in Mexico City, Mexico, negotiating treaties with Latin America countries while employed with the US Treasury.
She had the good fortune to travel the world and consequently became a wonderful story teller. She was an extremely generous soul with her resources and time, and for many years her volunteer activities found her driving chemo patients to their appointments. Ms Cashin was a regular volunteer at the Manna Foundation, which provides nutritious foods to those suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
A memorial gathering and Mass took place at St John the Baptist Church in Hillsdale, October 28.
Memorial donations may be made to St John’s Hospice, 1221 Race Street, Philadelphia PA 19107 or to Manna, 2323 Ranstead Street, Philadelphia PA 19103.
