To The Editor:

Last week my wife wrote a letter to the editor endorsing Ben Ruben for Legislative Council and I can’t echo her words enough. I met Ben Ruben just over a year ago when he volunteered to coach our son’s t-ball team. Very quickly after meeting him, our families became close, and through that friendship, I learned more about his involvement with Newtown’s Legislative Council.

You don’t need to spend much time with Ben to realize he’s the kind of person you want representing you. He is understanding, open-minded, and genuinely committed to listening to others.

Like me, Ben is a parent with children in the school district, he understands firsthand how vital it is to support our schools and the families who rely on them. At the same time, he recognizes that not everyone is in the same situation, and he works hard to ensure our tax dollars are used responsibly and fairly.

His goals for Newtown are rooted in community, balance and progress — values that resonate no matter what stage of life you’re in.

Ben Ruben absolutely has our family’s vote, and he should have yours, too.
