Endorses Capeci
To The Editor:
First Selectman, Jeff Capeci, brings more than just experience, he brings the kind of thoughtful problem-solving our town relies on. Years ago, when budget votes were routinely failing, Jeff, then serving as Chairman on the Legislative Council, pushed to separate the town and education budgets and supported the clarifying question to the ballot: “If not approved, should the revised budget be higher?” This simple yet powerful change gave Council members a clearer understanding of voter intent and brought greater transparency to the process for residents and elected officials.
This year, when Newtown faced a $1.4 million revenue shortfall due to a delinquent tax bill, Jeff took decisive action. He forced the sale of the tax lien, protecting taxpayers from bearing the financial burden. He also saved residents money by refinancing existing town debt at lower interest rates — without extending the terms.
These are just a few examples, and they aren’t flashy headlines. They’re smart, steady decisions that reflect the kind of leadership Jeff has delivered for over 20 years. Vote for experience and results. Re-Elect Jeff Capeci.
