To The Editor:

As a longtime resident of Newtown, I write to wholeheartedly endorse the re-election of Scott Cicciari as Vice Chairman of the Board of Police Commissioners.

In his eight years of service, Scott has proven himself an exemplary leader with deep expertise and a steadfast commitment to public safety. His 25+ years in emergency medical services, including his current role as Assistant Chief of the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, give him unique insight into the challenges our first responders face.

Scott’s contributions extend far beyond operations. In 2013, he co-founded the Sandy Hook Arcade Center, creating a vital space for healing and community connection after tragedy. More recently, he secured matching grants to modernize Edmond Town Hall with new technology and furnishings.

Known for his collaborative spirit, Scott works effectively across party lines and has earned respect from colleagues for his knowledge and integrity. He prioritizes critical issues like combating the opioid crisis with overdose kits and maintaining strong, experienced leadership to support our police department.

Newtown deserves continuity, competence, and compassion on the Police Commission. Scott Cicciari delivers all three.

I urge my fellow residents to vote for Scott Cicciari on November 4.
