Supports Newtown Democrats
To The Editor:
As we approach another municipal election, our federal government remains shut down, leaving thousands of families anxious about programs like SNAP and WIC. While our state prepares plans to fund these programs, this instability strains both state and local governments. We need steady, compassionate, and experienced local leaders who can navigate uncertainty. The Newtown Democratic slate is made up of just those leaders. When I ran for state office last year, I had the pleasure of working with many of these local leaders, bringing their skills to Newtown’s municipal government.
At the top of the ticket, Bruce Walczak will bring a fair, balanced, and collaborative approach as First Selectman, focused on listening to neighbors, families, and small businesses. Joined by Paul Lundquist, with a decade of elected experience, they’ll ensure strong harmony between Newtown’s executive and legislative branches.
I’m excited to see my friend Michelle Embree Ku running for Legislative Council. She embodies public service. With her deep knowledge of Newtown’s schools, service on the Board of Selectmen, and understanding of state/local collaboration, she will be an asset, along with incumbents Jordana Bloom and Eric Paradis, in representing Newtown with integrity and kindness.
Newtown is also fortunate to have Jim Gaston running again for the Board of Finance. With extensive experience and a steady hand, Jim will safeguard town finances while ensuring residents receive the best value and services for their tax dollars.
Finally, I hope you’ll re-elect Board of Education member Doria Linnetz. As a mother of two Newtown students, Doria is committed to keeping Newtown schools among the best in the state and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Local elections matter. I urge you to vote Row A on November 4 for Newtown’s Democratic candidates, who will always put Newtown first.
