Thriving Community
To The Editor:
As both Ben Ruben’s wife and a District 3 resident, I feel compelled to speak out again in support of his re-election to the Legislative Council. Recent claims that he does not support our local schools could not be further from the truth. In fact, they are not only misleading, but they also undermine the hard work and dedication he has consistently shown for our entire community.
Our family chose to make Newtown our home because of the strong reputation of our public schools. We have a child currently attending a Newtown Public School and will have another join him. We see firsthand the value of teachers, staff and programs that make this town special. To suggest Ben, who is personally invested in the success of these schools, would actively work against them is simply absurd.
Ben’s goal through the Legislative Council has and always will be to serve the entire community. He knows that supporting our schools and keeping our town affordable are not opposing priorities, but complementary ones. A thriving school system depends on a financially stable and inclusive community where families, seniors and young professionals can all afford to live and contribute.
It is important to have a member of the Legislative Council that approaches every decision with honesty, research, and a deep sense of responsibility. Which is exactly what Ben does. Ben listens to residents, weighs the facts and makes choices that will serve the long-term greatness of Newtown. Again, I’m encouraging everyone in District 3 to support Ben as their representative on the Legislative Council who truly cares about all of us. Thank you.
