Nunnawauk Needs Cherry Picker

Last year there were no lights on the Christmas tree at Nunnawauk Meadows, Newtown’s senior housing complex. So this year resident Roxie Define took matters into his own hands and issued a public appeal in August for donations to cover the cost of new outdoor lights, about $300.

“We collected enough to buy the lights — which were $241 — and we had $11 left over,” Mr Define said this week.

But because the tree has grown quite a bit in recent years, the complex needs to find someone with a cherry picker to help put up the lights.

“The tree is 25 or 30 feet tall so we just can’t do it, “ Mr Define said.
