FARMINGTON â The Stanley-Whitman House will re-create the military funeral of a Revolutionary War soldier from Farmington on Sunday, November 16, at the museum, between noon and 4 pm.
The funeral re-creates that of Amos Wadsworth, a Farmington apothecary shop owner who died on October 29, 1775, from an unknown illness, and was buried in Brookline, Mass. Wadsworth joined the Sixth Company, Second Connecticut Regiment as an ensign and left Farmington in late May of 1775. The company arrived in Roxbury, Mass., on May 25, the first Connecticut regiment to arrive.
Details of Wadsworthâs funeral have been researched and drawn from local history sources and from material about military funerals of the period.
