Girls

U8

Fighting Irish 4, Wolverines 0: For the Fighting Irish, Jenna Lavelle, Priya Deraney, Heidi Poarch and Grace Corcoran all scored goals. Alison Kelleher played great on both sides of the ball. For the Wolverines, Gabrielle Resiert and Kristina Goeree played well on offense.

Lightning 2, Thunder 0: For the Lightning, Haley Harkins scored off an assist by Sage Karp. Sarah Tressler scored off an assist by Kaitlyn Reilly. For Thunder, Barbara Patillio and Lisa Todarella were aggressive on defense.

Lightning 1, Monkeys 1: For the Lightning, Maddie Zipperstein scored the goal with an assist from Katie Peterson. Allie Paynter and Alexis Fortugno were strong on defense. Jenna Ehnot had three steals

Dynamites 5, Monkeys 1: The Dynamites were led with two goals by Sarah Houle and Catherine Shaw, while Ashley Santore scored one. Claire Dubois and Maddie Carter were strong on defense, while Jackie Matthews had a great overall game. The Monkeys’ goal was scored by Emma Boland. Defensively, they were led by Abby Clarke and Katelyn Henchcliffe, while Ashley Marron had a great overall game.

U10

Lightning Bolts 5, Killer Tigers 2: The Killer Tigers were led by goals by Vicky Teixeira and Emily Neave and great offensive efforts from Jillian DiMartino and Julia Sughrue. The Lightning Bolts played a strong all around game. Goalies Emma Schmid-Tharnish, Allie Indelicato and Kiera Veillette led a strong defense anchored by Kayla DiSibio and Juliet Grover. 

The Purple Penguins 5, Lightning 2: Anna Biondi, Diana Kirkman, Amanda Donovan, Jessica Maturo and Nicole Russo each scored a goal in the win. Sophia Albano played a great overall game and Cecilia Schoeni was fantastic in goal. The Lightning attack was led by Katie Reilly who had both goals (assisted by Grace Larson). Lauren Villamana and Taylor Comiro played solid all-around games.

U11

Darien 4, Comets 0: Goalkeepers Emily Charash and Katie Mossbarger were strong in the defeat. Despite ssolid midfield play by Christina DeBartolomeo and Haley Trudell and great defensive effort by Julia Schoeni and Veronica Moyer, the opponents wore them down.

U12

Stamford 3, Lightning 1: Jessica Keller scored a goal set up by Kailee Dunnigan. The Lightning kept the offensive pressure on but couldn’t find the back of the net, and Stamford scored three in a row. Emily Riley and Megan Meyer played well in goal, and Dale Shearin had a great game on defense and in the midfield. The team will play in the Southwest District playoffs this weekend.

U14

Newtown Flash 3, Stamford 1: Brittany Tolla had two goals and an assist. Stephanie Roman scored after repeatedly outmaneuvering Stamford’s defense. Katie Shirley and Lydia Beiter had assists. Kelly Brooks was instrumental on defense, and Emily Brisson blocked several difficult shots in the goal.

Darien 3, Newtown Flash 0: Bianca Solano and Tressa Scott played strong defense. Meaghan Harkins fought hard offensively.  Maria Biondi and Keily Kuligowski applied pressure to Darien at midfield.

Newtown Flash 4, Bethel 0: The Flash shut out Bethel with breakaway goals by Tressa Scott and Lindsay Jossick. Stephanie Roman also scored (assisted by Lydia Beiter). Kyra Murray scored with an assist by Roman. Julia Trudell and Abby Blakeman played aggressively on the defensive end.

Newtown Flash 2, Trumbull 2: Kyra Murray scored a goals assisted by Stephanie Roman. And Roman scored a goal assisted by Lydia Beiter. Lyndsey Pearlman and Zoe Eggleston were forceful at midfield. Jilliana Ciamarra had some key plays for the Flash. Katie Shirley dominated on defense.

Boys

U8

King Cobras 3, Hawks 0: For the King Cobras, Jack Hanley scored all three goals, and Andrew Lally and Kyle Roche hustled throughout the game to contribute to the win. For the Hawks, Bobby Elston and Rick Irving helped provide a strong defense, while Luke Fischer, Harrison Farah, and Allen Xue were strong on offense.

U10

Bethel 5, The Storm 2: Mike Meyers and Austin Engler each scored once for the Storm. Meyers, Engler, Shane Gattey, Thomas Leuci, Richard Ciamarra, Hayes Kelchner, Tiernan Keane, Luke Caplan and Alex Hess were aggressive on offense all season long. Jamie Cochrane, Forest Weatherby, Matthew Tassiello, Jack Ryan and Richard Katrinak became one of the stingiest defenses in the league. Kelchner, Hess and Keane rotated in goal and did a great job all season. Coach Antony Howard led the team to an 8-4-2 record.

U12

Newtown White Lightning 6, Easton 0: Michael Cook had a hat-trick plus one goal. Cook scored his first goal 58 seconds in after he stole the ball from an Easton defender. Cook also scored the last goal of the game when he took a direct kick from 25 yards out. Carter Nordman, Jeremy Doski and Michael Biancardi added goals and played great up front as forwards. Genti Limani, Ryan King, Knute Johnson and Nathyn Horvath had assists and controlled the midfield. Sawyer Conrad, Patrick Rowley, Will Swain and Kevin Droniak controlled the defense. Peter Manfredonia made a great diving save to preserve the shutout. Daniel Hamula and Raymond Xue played well off the bench to ignite the second-half scoring attack. Newtown completed the fall season at 9-2-8

U13

Newtown Beasts 1, Fairfield 0: The lone goal was scored by Stefan Dullinger. The Beasts also received strong play from Andrew Martinez and Jonah Muniz. The defense, led by Connor Gallagher, Wesley Morlock and Owen Gaston, was strong. Austin Raftery was excellent in goal.

U14

 The Itallian Stallions 4, Strikers 1: For the Stallions, the offense was lead by Evan Swain who scored two goals, and Josh Tuffy and Taylor Rutter each of whom added a goal. Will Carr and Brandon Rodriguez were solid on defense. Tim Kelly and Justin Weiner were strong in goal. The Strikers’ offense was led by Nick Shannon. Matt Barra and Mike Senf played a solid overall offensive game. Zackary Weiland and James Leuci played great on the defensive end.
