Local Trends In Substance Abuse

On The Agenda

The Newtown Parent Connection and Newtown Police Department, are partnering to host a public forum at the Newtown Middle School Auditorium, Thursday, November 13 from 7 to 9 pm.

The featured speaker and his colleagues represent Connecticut’s Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association (NEOA), who will discuss drug and alcohol risks locally, and across the state.

“Education and knowledge are our greatest weapons against drug abuse,” said Lieutenant Michael R. Rinaldi, president of the NEOA.

Lt Rinaldi said the NEOA is committed to educate, inform, and assist both law enforcement agencies and the public to dangers and trends related to drug abuse. The NEOA calls on communities to “bond together...to present a united front in our continuing battle against drug abuse.”

The Newtown Police Department and Newtown Parent Connection offered this multimedia program in the fall of 2005, and are inviting the NEOA back again with a brand-new message equally informative and filled with critical information all parents and caregivers should know.

Due to the explicit nature of Detective Janette’s presentation, this program is intended for adult participants only.

The Newtown Parent Connection is a locally based nonprofit agency committed to educating and preventing substance abuse, as well as proving support networks for families in crisis.

The NPC welcomes anyone suffering in any way from drug or alcohol use. All calls remain strictly confidential.
