The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will present John Forgione demonstrating watercolor on Wednesday, November 12, at 1:30 pm, in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at The Flagpole).

The demonstration is open to the public and admission is free.

John Forgione was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He moved to Connecticut at an early age, and continues to call this area his home.

Forgione’s artistic passion and influence started as a young boy, when he was introduced to painting and sculpture by his uncle, mentor, and namesake John Forgione Sr.

Forgione went on to major in art and painting at University of Connecticut, earning a BFA. His lifelong love of nature, and a strong influence of the French and American Impressionists, drive his passion for plein air painting. He enjoys the emotional and physical challenges of painting outdoors, working quickly and fervently to capture the effects of light, weather, form, architecture, and nature in his work.

His paintings have been displayed and sold through a variety of Connecticut art shows and galleries, including Fine Line Art Gallery, NEST Arts Factory, New Pond Farm, Rene Soto Gallery, Mark Twain Library, Metro Art Studios, and out of his home studio and gallery in Easton.

Forgione is also a successful entrepreneur, and a founding partner at SFA Marketing, a Connecticut based marketing agency.

Reservations are not required for SCAN programs but additional information may be available at SCANart.org.

“CT River Museum” is a 26 by 16 inch oil on linen painting by John Forgione, who says he loves the emotional and physical challenges of plein air painting.
