Halloween has brought thousands of trick-or-treaters to Main Street for many years, and 2025 was no exception. People of all ages dressed up and walked up and down Main Street on Halloween night, excited to fill their bags with candy and see the many decorated houses for the spooky season.

Several Newtown Bee employees stood outside the building to pass out candy and spotted trick-or-treaters darting up Church Hill Road as early as 4 pm. At the same time, families along Main Street finished preparing for the thousands of people who swarm their road every single year.

The many decorated houses on Main Street were a “treat” of their own, with residents going all out to liven up their homes and spook eager trick or treaters. One house themed their decorations after the animated sitcom The Flintstones, coupled with two cavemobiles, a giant dinosaur, and a sign that read “Welcome to Bedrock.”

Another house themed their residence after the fantasy comedy film Hocus Pocus, decorating the front of their house with flowers, pumpkins, and skeletons.

Other houses had ghosts floating through the wind, giant inflatable pumpkins, and hordes of skeletons among the various ghoulish sights along Main Street.

Of course, no Halloween on Main Street is complete if the trick-or-treaters did not go all out for the costumes — and they sure delivered.

Several kids dressed up as their favorite characters, from classics like Ghostbusters, Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, and the Mario Brothers to new favorites like Rumi, Mira, and Zoey from KPop Demon Hunters. Others haunted Main Street as flowers, Thing 1 and Thing 2, the Ender Dragon from Minecraft, Sonic the Hedgehog, dragons, ninjas, Spider-Man, fairies, and more.

Once again, it is thanks to the energy from the Newtown community, as well as visitors near and far, that makes Halloween in Newtown so special.
