Flagpole Photographers Have Started A New Season

The Flagpole Photographers Club will hold its next meeting on Thursday, November 17, at 7:30 pm. The group meets monthly in the lower meeting room at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.

Guest speaker and judge will be Mike Lorring, who will show and discuss his photography.

The members’ contest subject will be “Open Prints.”

The Flagpole Photographers Club, a non-profit organization, is a place to enhance and practice photographic skills and learn about the latest technologies. Family and guests are always welcome.

Membership is $20 and is open to anyone with an interest in photography, regardless of level of experience. High school students can join for free.

Last month’s meeting featured a members’ competition with the theme simply of “Nature.” Guest judge and speaker Frank Gardner critiqued the entries. Bob Berthier captured three of the four places.

The winning slides were: “Bluebird in Winter” by Bob Berthier, first place; “Egret” by Larry Arthur, second place; “Monarch in Joepie” by Mr Berthier, third place; and “Towerfalls Rainbow” by Mr Berthier, honorable mention.

Also during the meeting, the club enrolled five new members, for a total of 17 new memberships registered over the past two months.
