Dodgingtown DUI

Motorist Robert Herrick, 78, of Greensboro, N.C., was involved in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Cemetery Road and Route 302 in Dodgingtown about 5 pm November 9, after Herrick did not grant the right of way at a stop sign there, police report.

Police said their investigation resulted in charges against Herrick of driving under the influence, failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign, and risk of injury to a minor. There were two minors in the vehicle that Herrick was driving, police said.

After processing, police released Herrick on $100 bail for a November 28 court appearance.

Swamp Road Arrest

About 6:30 am November 9, motorist Maycoll Hermsdorff, 21, of Danbury, who was driving a 2005 Volkswagen GTI southward on Swamp Road, passed a noncontact vehicle in a no-passing zone at high speed and then sharply cut back into the southbound lane, causing the noncontact vehicle to come to an abrupt stop, police report.

After investigating, police arrested Hermsdorff on four charges. The charges are passing in a no-passing zone, traveling at an unsafe distance while passing, traveling unreasonably fast, and driving while under suspension.

After booking Hermsdorff on the arrest, police released him on $100 bail for arraignment on November 22 before a judge in Danbury Superior Court.

 

GMC Vs Chevrolet

About 6 pm November 9, motorist A.V. Cacciabaudo, 61, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., who was driving a 2002 GMC sport-utility vehicle, was attempting to turn left from Mona Lisa Restaurant’s parking lot at 160 South Main Street in order to travel northward on South Main Street, police said.

At that time, motorist Laura Brophy, 40, of 31 Jo-Mar Drive was driving a 2005 Chevrolet station wagon southward on South Main Street, police add.

As the GMC was attempting to make the turn, the two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police issued Cacciabaudo an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way at private driveway.
