Middle Gate Receives Grant For Science Program

On Thursday, November 3, Middle Gate Elementary School received a $500 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program to support the school’s science program.

Laura and Gary Buzzanca of Buzz’s Mobil on South Main Street worked with school officials to secure the grant, which is one of 4,000 available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil stations. The grants were made possible by the funding from the Exxon Mobil Corporation. Buzz’a Mobil met the stringent eligibility criteria before applying for and being awarded the grant. The Buzzancas have secured similar grants through the Exxon Mobil Corporation since 1996 helping the school to support several different types of programs.

The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools.

Middle Gate’s science and math specialist Pam Fagan was thrilled to accept the check for $500 saying, “The Buzzancas have been fabulous to this school. They are part of our school family. We will use the money to purchase four new microscopes. We will definitely make good use of the grant money.”

Mrs Buzzanca said, “Middle Gate is an extremely interactive school, that strives to make learning interesting and fun. We are pleased to be able to assist Middle Gate in their purchase of new microscopes for the science lab.” Mrs Buzzanca went on the say that her family had just attended a special evening event at the school called “Look What’s Under the Microscope Night.” She said that the children’s enthusiasm was contagious and that she was sure the microscopes would be appreciated.
